Bonjour! Itβs Nancy here β from theΒ soon-to-be world famous pop group Nancy and the Meerkats!
After our first record βPut Your Paws Upβ became a massive hit, weβre offΒ onΒ a huge tour of the UK!
We havenβt quite made it to stadium status yetΒ βΒ some of the venues are more Weeny than Wembley β but Iβm going to be letting you know whatβs been going on each day in my journal for Fun Kids!
The tour has moved on to Leeds now! Tonightβs gig is a sell out and weβre expecting our biggest crowd ever!
There were a few problems earlier though whilst we were setting out instruments up β I got my paws stuck in a mousetrap!
There were loads of them lying around all overΒ the stage and I bet itβs the work of that mean old moggy Kitty Perry! Sheβs always looking for ways to get me and my girls out the picture!
I had to get Big Joe to try and get it off my poor paws!
Apparently theyβre called Little Nippers and are pretty famous all over the world! Youβve probably seen them in cartoons!
The bait goes on one end and when itβs touched the trap is sprung β as I found out!
They were actually invented right here in Leeds a hundred years ago byΒ a bloke called James Atkinson.
People had tried to trap mice for hundreds ofΒ years but his design was a new and simple way around an old problem.
They are pretty cool but not so much when theyβre on me! It left my paws very sore and we thought we might even have to cancel the show!
Luckily all this talk of inventors andΒ coming up with new ideas toΒ get around problems had rubbed off on me and IΒ worked out what we should do in no time!
So tonight, rather than me dancing around the fans, weβre going toΒ put the stage in the middle of the hallβ¦ then the fansΒ can dance around me!
Letβs hope my plan works!
